AARP Medicare Supplement plans with drug coverage
If you currently have an AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan with drug coverage, you have a choice to make whether you want to keep your current plan with the supplemental drug coverage or enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan. You have three options:
-
Enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan AND keep your current Medicare Supplement plan without the drug benefit, and have your premium adjusted,
OR,
- Enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan and switch to a different or another Medicare Supplement plan available in your state. As an AARP Medicare Supplement plan member, you can change to another AARP Medicare Supplement plan without answering medical questions.
- Keep your existing plan with the drug coverage and not enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan. Please keep in mind that if you choose to enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan at a later date, you will be subject to a late enrollment penalty fee (unless you qualify for an exception) because you did not sign up for a plan during your initial open enrollment period.
Important Information to Remember:
Your Medicare Supplement Insurance plan provides hospital and medical coverage.
Whether you choose to enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan or not,
you'll want to make sure you keep your AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan
to help cover those costs.
AARP Medicare Supplement plans without drug coverage
If you currently have an AARP Medicare Supplement plan without drug coverage, there is no need to worry – your current coverage through the AARP Health Care Options Program will not change.
