In some states, individuals may qualify as a business group of one or may be eligible for guaranteed issue, small group health plans. AARP Essential Premier Health Insurance plans are medically underwritten by Aetna and you may be declined coverage in accordance with your health condition. If declined coverage, you may be federally eligible under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or a special guaranteed issue plan under you state's laws and regulations.
